Pre-Care & After-Care

PRE-CARE

If you’ve ever hired a professional painter, they will tell you that “it’s all in the prep”. Professional painters know that they get the best results when they spend extra time sanding, filling holes, making sure edges are smooth and applying the right primer.  Well, permanent makeup is very similar.  You will get much better results when you properly prep. It all starts with a good canvas! The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive, and non-irritated.  Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:

-Do not pick/tweeze/wax 3 days before the procedure.

-Do not tan two weeks prior to the service, or have a sunburned face.

-Do not have any type of facial 2 weeks prior to the procedure.

-Do not work out the day of the procedure.

-Do not have Botox 2 weeks prior to the procedure.

-Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to the procedure (they are natural blood thinners)

-Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days prior to the procedure, in order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor color deposit:

-Do not drink alcohol 24 - 48 hours before your tattoo.

-Do not consume coffee before your procedure.

-Do not take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (these also thin the blood)

Reminder: There are minimal breaks during the 2-4 hour treatment. Please be sure to dress comfortably and eat beforehand. Arrive 10 minutes before your appointment time, preferably with a freshly washed face. Mascara is ok to be worn.

AFTER-CARE

Congratulations on your new brows!

Please read the After-Care instructions carefully and in their entirety.

Your after-care is imperative to maintaining lasting results. It is up to you to make sure your brows last! Remember, our skin is a living organ that needs nourishment and proper care.

If you have any questions regarding after-care please contact the studio.

Follow these steps to maintain the best retention and results.

 Immediately after leaving the studio:

Your brows will feel tender and look darker than anticipated. There may be some stinging, swelling, slight burning or itching- this is normal and will take a few hours to settle.

Make sure your hands, glasses, and anything possibly touching your face are wiped clean of bacteria.

Do not touch your beautiful new brows!

It is essential that you resist the urge to touch or scratch the treated area. If itching does occur, gently tap or slap the source, but DO NOT scratch, pick or rub the area.

Day 1- day of treatment: Leave barrier cream on throughout the day and wash before bed & apply balm.

After the procedure, leave the barrier cream that was applied to the brows on them until you wash the brows once before bed with water and gentle cleanser provided. (If additional cleanser is needed, use: Dial Soap, Cetaphil, Dove Soap, or Baby Shampoo.) DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or exfoliants. Gently PAT the brows dry- DO NOT RUB, let them air out completely dry and then apply a RICE GRAIN size amount of After Ink balm with a clean Q-Tip.

Day 2-10: Wash morning and night & apply balm.

Gently wash your eyebrows in the morning and at night. With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a smooth motion for 5 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. Gently pat them dry, air them out, and apply a RICE GRAIN amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.

Days 10-14: Your After-Care schedule is over, but your brows are still healing. Continue to treat your brows as a wound (no bacteria, touching, make-up, etc.). Please read important reminders for important continuous after-care.

Important Reminders:

You can shower, but do not allow the water to saturate your face. Limit your showers to 5-10 minutes and leave bathroom door open while showering to reduce steam. Steam will open your pores and release the pigment. Makeup cannot be worn on the brows for 14 days. If you choose to wear foundation, completely avoid the brow area. Make-up is full of bacteria and can cause infection. No moisturizer or creams (besides after-care cream provided) can be applied during the 14-day healing process. No picking or scratching. Avoid saunas, hot tubs, sun exposure.
Please follow these directions exactly. Deviation from these After-Care steps may cause irreversible trauma and scarring to the area.
